Mr. Tempel "discovers" now also the importance Mondrian attributed to the central area of the composition:
In his essay published at his own expenses and sent out to the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag in 2006, Michael Sciam explains the importance Mondrian gave to the center of the composition in the naturalistic works, in the cubist ones as well as in the abstract compositions. Nevertheless, chief curator Hans Janssen and his director Benno Tempel behaved as if this aspect was not so interesting to deserve their consideration.
In order to promote Mondrian's emphasis on the center as "his discovery", Mr. Tempel refers now to some artworks from The Hague School where a house (Fig. 6) or a boat can be seen in the center of the painting.
